My personal style can be somewhat eclectic; and if you look around my house you certainly wouldn’t find everything matching! It doesn’t stop me from dreaming of a Farmhouse, boho chic, vintage style home though, with décor to match of course! If you’re looking to add a touch of shabby chic to your accessories too, you can’t go wrong with these crochet lace coasters!

The Design

Originally designed as part of an Easter collection, the versatile shape of these coasters makes them suitable for any time of year, and would be fantastic as a quick and elegant gift to give a loved one. The pattern itself can also be used in a variety of different ways; need some bunting? Make a few in different colours and string them together. Need some earrings? Get some small steel hooks and some thread and have a go!

The Yarn

These crochet lace coasters are the perfect stash-busting pattern to whip up in any leftover cotton. For the original version of this design I used Aunt Lydia’s Fashion Crochet thread in Natural, size #3, but a great alternative would also be Curio #3 Cotton thread from We Crochet. Alternatively, any other cotton or cotton blend yarn in Sport or even Fingering weight would be suitable also.

For the earring sized version of this design, I used Artiste 100% mercerised Egyptian cotton, in Jade Blue. Another great option would be Curio #10 cotton thread from We Crochet. With this sized thread you’ll need a 1.5 mm or smaller hook, such as the Clover Amour hooks. I find these to be the most suitable for all my micro crochet projects.

For the earrings you’ll also need a pair of needle nose pliers, some fish hook earring findings, and jump rings.

Easter Egg Coasters Pattern Notes:

Pattern is written in US terms.

Gauge is not essential for this pattern, however any difference in gauge will also affect the yardage and finished measurements.

Chains at beginning of a round count as the first stitch, unless otherwise stated.

Stitch counts at the end of a round do not include chain spaces.

[ ] = Instructions between brackets are worked the total number of times specified.

( ) = Multiple stitches within parentheses are worked into the same space / stitch.

Earring Customization:

To make this pattern as an earring set, ensure your tension is tight for the best results.

To attach your earring findings, use your needle nose pliers to open the loop of your fish hook findings to the side. (This prevents weakening of the metal.) Slip the open loop through the crochet stitches at the top of the egg-shape and use the pliers to once again close the loop.

For more movement to your earring, you could also add a small jump ring in between the hook and the crochet fabric.
