Let’s start with the heart of every crochet project – the yarn! I’ve had the pleasure of working with a few different yarn brands, but there are a couple that stand out for their quality and versatility. My current go-to brand is We Crochet; they offer an exquisite range of weights, colours, and textures, making every project a success. Crochet Hooks:
Next up, let’s talk about the essential tool that we can’t live without. (Unless you can do that special finger-crochet technique; I’ll be very impressed if so!) The complete set of Dot Hooks from We Crochet are my current favourites. The ergonomic handles are comfortable and reduce hand fatigue, the handy little hole in the end means I never lose my stitch markers, and the straight metal shaft ensures consistent tension. AND they even come with a handy little caddy to store (or display) as you choose!
An independent hook maker that I’m currently loving is Ophire Co. The quality craftsmanship of her hooks is evident, and they’re gorgeous too! Tunisian Crochet Hooks:
To work Tunisian Crochet you’ll need a special straight hook, or sometimes even a double-ended hook for working Tunisian in the round. Honestly, these can be a little hard to come by sometimes, particularly in larger sizes or in a variety of styles. You may even stumble on some double-ended hooks that have a different hook size at either end – careful with these, they are actually a knitting tool for fixing dropped stitches, and not the correct hooks you’re looking for to work this kind of project.
Because of the difficulty in finding the correct style and size of hook, my personal recommendation is a set of Tunisian interchangeable hooks from Amazon. You can find these in a few styles and materials, and I’ve linked a few at different price points below.
