Inglenook Tunisian Cowl – Crochet Pattern
Do you know what an Inglenook is? A lot of places in England still have them (the country I call home), and it’s a recessed nook on either side of a fireplace; an alcove where people seeking warmth would gather. Nowadays you might find small benches or chairs in these little nooks, and they’ve become a natural setting for story-telling by the fire. If you’re seeking a little warmth and escapism for a few moments, cozy up in your comfiest fireside chair and hook up this reversible crochet cowl this winter!

Wonderfluff by WeCrochet/Knitpicks is a bulky #5, baby alpaca and merino wool blend, blown into a tube of nylon mesh. The end result is soft, beautifully warm, airy, and of course, FLUFFY, as the name suggests! It comes in a ‘donut’ of 142 yds per 50g, which just shows how weightless this yarn really is!
Tunisian Crochet
The Inglenook reversible crochet cowl is a completely beginner pattern, so even if this is your first attempt it’ll be a piece of cake! And don’t worry about the reversible part; the technique I used to achieve it is simply a fun combination of stitches, giving the look of colour changes without ever actually having to change colour! The pattern features full explanations of how to set up for Tunisian crochet, photo tutorials of the stitches, and a colour-work chart for the geometric design in all available sizes, making it as easy as possible!
The pattern is worked in the round, which means you’ll need a double ended Tunisian hook, or an interchangeable set with a variety of sizes. Check out some of my favourites below, all available on Amazon:
