I love the idea of being organised, with a home for every item. I just… fall short on the execution sometimes! Particularly when it comes to the smaller items; my jewelry laying loose on my nightstand, or toiletries scattered on the bathroom counter. So I whipped up these beautiful little crochet nesting baskets to help me out!
The Design
There’s just something I love about the look of beautiful, matching, crochet nesting baskets around a house; keeping everything nice and tidy, and not to mention out of the way of little fingers! Two complementary shapes, that are both quick and simple to make, add a little something beautiful to my bathroom counter (and my nightstand, my mantle piece, my desk… you get the idea!)
And once I started using them, I was surprised at just how many things can be improved with the addition of an elegant looking crochet nesting basket! Did you know succulents get cold in the winter? No? Well, maybe that’s because I might have just made it up. But I’m sure you’ll agree they look simply lovely in their new little cosies!
With various sizing options and easily customised for handles or straight sides, you’re sure to find the combination that’s perfect for you. Whether you stitch up a cute little trio as a spa gift set, or use them separately to store all your trinkets neatly, you can fit all your essentials and then some.
However you use them, be sure to let me know below, I’d love to see your ideas!

Yarn Substitutes:
Although Yarnspirations have confirmed that they have not discontinued the yarn, the fact remains that Bernat Maker Home Dec can be very difficult to get ahold of, so here is a list of substitutes with a similar yarn weight and material that I think will work well in this pattern.
- We Crochet Billow – Bulky (#) Cotton
- Hobbii Donna – Bulky (#5) Cotton and Polyester blend
- Hobbii Glitter Delight – Bulky (#5) Cotton and Acrylic blend
- Joann Big Twist Gentle – Bulky (#5) Acrylic
Yardage and Finished Measurements:
Round pot:
22-47 yards (sizes S-L), 2.5-3.75 inches (diameter, S-L), 2.25-3.5 inches (height, S-L)
Oval dish:
36-72 yards (sizes S-L), 5.5-7.5 inches (diameter, S-L), 1-2 inches (height, S-L)
Special Stitches:
Invisible Slip Stitch: Extending the working loop, remove hook. Insert hook from back to front under the first st of the round. Loop the yarn over the hook and pull to the back, tighten the st.
Seamless Join: Cut yarn. Remove hook and pull yarn through. Threading your yarn needle, pass the yarn tail from front to back under both loops of the first st of the round. Then thread your yarn tail back through the middle of the last st of the round. Do not pull too tightly.
Pattern Notes:
Pattern is written in US terms.
Chain 1 at the beginning of a round does not count as the first stitch.
[ ] = Instructions within brackets are worked the total number of times specified.
Where there are no st counts listed, the numbers are the same as the previous round.
The pattern is written together where all sizes have the same instructions, it is then split for varying instructions for each size.
Where there is only one stitch count, this applies for all sizes. Where there are different stitch counts for the different sizes, the Small size will be shown first, followed by Medium and then Large.
Once the bases are worked up, the work is turned once so that the right side is now the inside of the crochet nesting baskets. The work is not turned again.
